Burn Permits in Cartwright–Roblin Municipality
To help keep our community safe and informed, Cartwright–Roblin Municipality issues three types of Burn Permits. These permits ensure safe burning practices and allow our local Fire Department to stay aware of controlled fire activity across the region.
1. Rural Burn Barrel Permit
This permit is for residents on rural properties outside of town limits who use burn barrels.
Requirements include:
Burn barrels must be placed at least 3 metres from buildings, property lines, and combustible materials.
Barrels must be fully enclosed and constructed from non-combustible materials such as bricks, concrete blocks, or heavy-gauge metal.
This is an annual permit.
2. Outdoor Fire Pit Permit
This permit is required for all outdoor fire pits, whether within town limits or in rural areas.
Fire pit guidelines:
Must be placed at least 3 metres from buildings, property lines, and combustible materials.
Maximum pit height: 0.5 metres (from ground to top of the opening).
Maximum opening diameter: 1 metre.
Fire pits must be built from approved non-combustible materials such as bricks, concrete blocks, or heavy-gauge metal.
This is an annual permit.
3. Rural Burn Permit
For rural landowners conducting open burns such as grass, sloughs, stubble, crop residue, or bush piles.
This permit is valid for two (2) weeks.
If weather conditions are unfavorable or the burn wasn’t completed, a new permit may be issued.
💡 All Burn Permits are FREE of charge.
They are an important tool for ensuring community safety and allow our Fire Department to respond quickly and effectively in case of emergency.
